Overview
Islesboro Central School is seeking a dynamic, flexible, and community-minded music educator to lead and grow our K–12 music program beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. This is a 4 day a week position. We are a small, K-12 public school that regards music education as an essential part of a well-rounded education and community life.
Responsibilities- Teach general music across grade spans, including elementary music, middle and high school chorus and band, and small ensembles depending on student interest.
- Organize and direct two K-12 concerts during the school year.
- Play multiple instruments and accompany ensembles.
- Incorporate student choice and contemporary music alongside traditional repertoire.
- Help students experience the joy of making music, regardless of skill level.
- Appreciate the unique opportunities and challenges of teaching in a small K–12 environment.
- Hold (or be eligible for) Maine certification in K-12 Music Education.
Islesboro Central School is located on the unbridged island of Islesboro, accessible by a 20 minute ferry ride from Lincolnville. ICS has a 100% graduation rate and enjoys strong community support.
