Music Teacher (PreK–5) – Part‑Time (1 Day per Week)

Fayette Central School has an opening for a part‑time Music Teacher for the upcoming 2026‑2027 school year. FCS is a small rural elementary school in Fayette, located approximately 15 miles west of Augusta. We serve approximately 65 students in grades PreK–5. This is a one day per week, school‑year position.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Music Teacher to join our elementary school community one day per week, working with students in PreK through Grade 5. The ideal candidate will foster a joyful and inclusive music environment where students can explore, create, and develop a lifelong appreciation for music through active, hands‑on learning. Our goal is to provide children with meaningful opportunities to explore music in a hands‑on way and experience the excitement of learning through instruments and creative expression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach engaging music lessons for students in PreK–5
  • Introduce students to a wide variety of musical styles, cultures, and instruments
  • Incorporate hands‑on experiences with percussion, rhythm, melody, and instrumental exploration
  • Create an encouraging classroom environment that supports creativity, participation, and confidence
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff as needed
  • Support performances or informal showcases when appropriate
Qualifications
  • Maine teaching certification in Music Education required
  • Experience teaching music to elementary‑aged students preferred
  • Experience with a range of musical instruments and a willingness to incorporate instrument exploration into lessons
  • Ability to engage young learners through movement, singing, rhythm, and interactive activities
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Passion for music education and fostering student creativity
