OverviewMarcia Buker Elementary School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic PreK Educational Technician. The Ed Tech will work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support young learners in a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate PreK environment that follows the PreK for ME curriculum.
Key Responsibilities- Support the classroom teacher in implementing daily routines and learning activities.
- Assist students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs using positive guidance techniques.
- Help supervise students in the classroom, playground, cafeteria, and during transitions. Prepare and organize materials for meals, lessons, projects, and classroom centers.
- Provide individual or small group support during instructional times, including literacy and play‑based activities.
- Assist with self‑care and other personal needs, as appropriate.
- Communicate positively, professionally, and collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
- Follow safety procedures, classroom rules, and school protocols.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Ed Tech II or III certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). - Experience working with young children, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
- Patience, flexibility, and a supportive, team‑oriented approach.
- Basic technology skills (e.g., tablets, interactive whiteboards) are a plus.
- Ability to follow teacher direction and contribute to a collaborative classroom environment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Comfortable sitting on the floor, kneeling, and moving quickly to support young children.
Compensation is based on experience and the applicable contract or district pay scale. Benefits available for eligible employees.
