Educational Technician III - Special Education
Reports To:
Building Principal or Designee
Qualifications Desired:
Documentation of at least three years of post-secondary education or a combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study in an educationally related field. Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Understanding of the instructional process and the needs of students, including students with special needs. Knowledge of emergency, health, and safety procedures preferred. Willingness to participate in ongoing in-service training as requested by the Administrator and/or Director.
Must hold or be eligible for Maine Educational Technician III Authorization for the State of Maine and CHRC Approval Certificate. Must maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information as required by law. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities. Prior experience in an educational setting is desirable but not required.
Work Year:
School year, in accordance with the Educational Technician III Bargaining Agreement.
Job Goal:
To assist teaching staff in maintaining an appropriate classroom environment where students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available learning resources.

Physical Demands:
The employee must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to: sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods; climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling; lifting 25-75 pounds, depending on student needs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Terms of Employment:
Salary, work year, and working conditions will be established by the RSU 57 School Board. Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy.
