Overview
Anticipated Special Education Teacher-Elementary Student Support Program (Grades K–5). Help students discover success relationship at a time.
The Wiscasset School Department is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our Elementary Student Support Program serving students in Grades K–5.
Our program supports students whose IEPs include behavioral, social-emotional, executive functioning, and self-regulation needs. We believe that meaningful relationships, high expectations, and individualized supports help students build the skills they need to succeed both academically and socially.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs), provide specially designed instruction, and collaborate closely with families, classroom teachers, administrators, counselors, and related service providers to create positive learning experiences for every student.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide specially designed instruction in individual, small-group, and classroom settings
- Support students in developing academic, behavioral, executive functioning, and self-regulation skills
- Use evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies to promote student success
- Monitor student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions
- Collaborate with families and school staff to provide coordinated student supports
- Foster a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment
- Maine Department of Education Certification (282) or eligibility
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Wiscasset School Department Teacher Contract and include health insurance, MainePERS, paid leave, and professional development opportunities.
