Functional Life Skills Teacher – Grades 4‑6
The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the position of Functional Life Skills Teacher at The Paris Elementary School in South Paris, ME. This role supports students in a self‑contained life skills setting, working collaboratively with colleagues to encourage, inspire, and support all students.
Student PopulationStudents served by the district number approximately 400 and include those with intellectual disability (), Autism, and Other Health Impairments (OHI). The teacher will focus on functional academics, activities of daily living (ADL), communication, participation in inclusive classes, and individualized needs.
Responsibilities- Teach functional academics and life skills to students with , Autism, and OHI.
- Develop and implement individualized instruction plans.
- Model best practices for student motivation and support.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community partners.
- Integrate literacy instruction and critical thinking across content areas.
- Valid Maine certification 282 or ability to obtain within 60 days with appropriate endorsement(s).
- Experience in special education and life skills instruction preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Work Schedule:
180 days.
Salary Range: $45,000.00 – $79,539.70 (SY 25/26).

Additional stipends for Special Education positions:
- Day Treatment Teachers – $4,500
- Functional Life Skills Teachers – $4,400
- Social Skills Teachers – $3,400
- Resource Room Teachers – $2,000
- Social Workers – $4,450
- Applied Academics Teachers – $4,000
