The Department of Modern Languages and Classics seeks an instructor to teach American Sign Language (ASL).
Responsibilities- Syllabus development aligned with departmental expectations.
- Lesson planning, assignment design, grading, office hours, and student correspondence.
- Use of an online learning management system and/or other instructional software.
- Course coordination meetings with other faculty members.
- Required orientation and training.
Positions typically require teaching in person on campus. Part‑time temporary faculty members may be rehired in subsequent semesters based on course availability, schedule, funding, and performance. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable university policies.
Qualifications- Proficiency in ASL at all levels necessary to teach the two‑semester introductory sequence.
- Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred
- Sign language interpreter certification or ASLTA certification; ASLTA certification is preferred.
- Experience teaching ASL.
- Graduate degree in ASL or a closely related field.
