Special Education Resource Room Teacher (Grades K5)

Palermo Consolidated School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Resource Room Teacher to join our dedicated K5 team for the  school year. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specially designed instruction in both resource room and inclusive classroom settings.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Use assessment and progress-monitoring data to design and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, educational technicians, and families to support student achievement.
  • Conduct academic evaluations and classroom observations.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional learning opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes student independence, confidence, and success.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Maine Certification 282 Teacher of Students with Disabilities required.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and special education law.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • A positive, flexible, and student-focused approach to supporting diverse learners.
