Pastor – The Congregational Church of East Sumner, ME

The Congregational Church of East Sumner is located in the western mountains of Maine, about 1.5 hours north of Portland and 30 minutes from Auburn/Lewiston and Augusta. With a stable congregation of approximately 35 members drawn from Sumner and surrounding towns, we are seeking a half‑time, bivocational pastor to lead worship, provide pastoral care, and help the church grow in faith and community outreach.

• Preach Sunday morning worship and selected special services
• Provide counseling and teaching
• Administer sacraments
• Conduct weddings, funerals, visitation, and offer prayers for the congregation
• Maintain regular communication with congregation members

• Mature believer in Christ who embraces Reformed theology and principles
• Graduate of a seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (or recent graduate with accredited continuing education at a Reformed school)
• Experience as a bivocational pastor or a willingness to combine pastoral duties with another profession
• Commitment to ongoing, credible continuing education that includes an in‑person component
• Ability to serve a small, rural church community

• Annual compensation range: $41,000 – $50,000, allocated among salary, housing, benefits, pension and reimbursables based on education and experience
• Four weeks of vacation
• After five years of service a sabbatical is offered
• Other benefits and housing arrangements negotiated individually
