We are seeking a Student Support Specialist to serve students at Wayne Elementary School and Mt. Vernon Elementary School, two small rural community schools within RSU #38. Funded through a CSI grant, this position focuses on improving student attendance, family engagement, and behavior support. The Student Support Specialist will provide intervention services, maintain consistency in behavioral expectations, and serve as a key liaison among families, students, and school staff.
This is a one-year grant‑funded position.
- Bachelor's/Master's degree and certification in teacher education, special education, administration, school counseling, social work, or relevant fields
- Experience working with students and families in a school or community setting
- Knowledge of tiered support frameworks (MTSS) and trauma‑informed practices
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and community members
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with attendance intervention and family engagement strategies preferred
Current Maine certification or licensure in teacher education, special education, administration, school counseling, social work, or relevant fields.
Salary Range$47,500 through $84,575 based on degree level and years of experience.
