Located a ? mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, RSU 23 is a 700 student, three‑school district seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will work with a team of providers at Jameson Elementary School to implement programming for students with intensive needs, primarily served in the special education setting.

• Citizenship, residency or work visa
• Maine Department of Education CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) site
• Maine Department of Education Teaching Certificate (286 or 282 PreK and K‑8) or eligibility for it

• Conduct academic evaluations and classroom observations
• Fulfill case management duties, including paperwork and consultation with classroom teachers
• Consult with team members to provide integrated programming
• Complete progress monitoring of all students on a scheduled basis
• Provide direct instruction in literacy, math, and daily living skills
• Develop and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans
• Supervise Educational Technicians
• Support students with autism and/or cognitive disabilities, including AAC device use
• Know Chapter 101 regulations
• Collaborate with colleagues and share best practices
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote student success
• Support the academic, social, and emotional needs of students
• Engage in school community activities outside the classroom
• Maintain exemplary time‑management and organizational skills
