About The OpportunitySt. George School is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and energetic General Music Teacher to join our vibrant school community for two days a week. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the foundational musical experiences of our youngest learners while cultivating a love for vocal performance in our middle-level students.
You won't be doing it alone! You will work alongside our amazing band teacher to provide a comprehensive, well-rounded music education for all St. George students. If you love variety in your day and want to be part of a supportive, creative environment, this is the perfect role for you.
Key Responsibilities- Early Childhood Music:
Introduce our 3- and 4-year-old Pre-K students to the joy of music through rhythm, movement, and play. - Elementary General Music:
Teach engaging, hands-on general music classes for Kindergarten through 4th grade. - Middle Level Chorus:
Direct and inspire our middle school choral program, fostering vocal technique, teamwork, and a passion for singing. - Collaboration:
Partner with our band director to align the music curriculum and cultivate a thriving school-wide culture for the arts.
- Appropriate Maine Department of Education Certification (K-12 Music endorsement #614) preferred (or eligibility for certification).
- Deep understanding of early childhood and elementary music pedagogy.
- Ability to engage and manage middle school students effectively in a choral setting.
- Strong communication and collaborative skills.
- A positive, creative, and student-centered approach to teaching.
