M.S.A.D #49 is seeking an Adult Education Director. Must demonstrate commitment to a positive learning environment, and achievment. Position open until suitable candidate is found.
Qualifications:State Certification as an Adult and Community Education Director, Master’s Degree - Background in adult education theory and practices
Reports to:Superintendent
Responsibilities Programming- Coordinate the delivery of adult education courses in the fall, spring and summer semester
- Keep abreast of trends in enrichment programming
- Solicit input from the community in the development of new offerings
- Develop curriculum in alignment with state and federal standards
- Develop schedules for teachers, room use, and testing
- Collaborate with UNET to deliver distance education for the University of Maine system
- Work with higher education and the business community to develop course offerings
- Oversee adult education program and clerical office staff
- Provide and coordinate professional development offerings for staff in accordance with annual professional development plan submitted to the state
- Guide and assist staff in implementing instructional strategies appropriate for adult learners
- Develop promotional materials including program brochures
- Solicit publicity for the program
- Maintain active web site with course and program information
- Provide updates on student success stories and program offerings
- Prepare and administer annual budgets
- Provide budget reports as required by state and federal grants
- Seek additional funding through grants, contracts, and collaborations to enhance the adult education program
- Maintain student files in both paper and electronic format
- Act as local program administrator for the statewide student information system MaineSTARS
- Produce local and state reports based on student assessment data
- Use data to inform program decisions
- Coordinate intake and registration of academic students
- Provide academic advising to students
- Plan annual graduation ceremony
- Maintain liaison with high school guidance for credit recovery for current LHS students
