Teacher of the Deaf
Candidates must have or be eligible for Maine Department of Education 292 Teacher of the Deaf Certification and Criminal History Record Check (CHRC).
Job Summary:- Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing based on their IEPs.
- Assess student progress and adapt instruction to meet individual communication and learning needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success.
- Support the use of appropriate communication methods, including spoken language, sign language and assistive listening technology, as appropriate.
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain required documentation and progress monitoring.
- Consult with school staff on accommodations, classroom strategies, and hearing-related supports to promote access to instruction.
The position will remain open until a qualified candidate is found.
