Elementary Resource Room Teacher

RSU 40 is seeking a collaborative, student-centered Elementary Resource Room Teacher to support students with disabilities in grades PreK
5. This position plays a key role in delivering specially designed instruction, supporting inclusion, and ensuring high-quality, compliant special education services.
- Provide specially designed instruction (SDI) in reading, writing, math, and functional skills
- Support students in both resource room and general education settings
- Serve as case manager for students with IEPs
- Develop and implement IEPs, including goals, accommodations, and services
- Facilitate IEP meetings and ensure timelines and compliance are met
- Progress monitor student growth and adjust instruction based on data
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and ed techs
- Build strong, positive relationships with students and families
- Maine certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (282 or equivalent)
- Knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Maine Unified Special Education Regulations
- Strong instructional and case management skills
- Ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and communicate effectively
- Commitment to inclusive practices and student-centered programming
- Experience with elementary students and diverse learning needs (preferred)
- Be part of a supportive, team-oriented special education department
- Work within a clearly defined continuum of services across the district
- Collaborate with dedicated educators, related service providers, and leadership
- Ongoing professional development and coaching opportunities
- Make a meaningful impact on students' academic, social, and functional growth
