Hichborn Middle School / SAU 31 is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly qualified Educational Technician II to join our collaborative educational team for the school year.

Position Overview

As an Ed Tech II, you will play a critical role in providing high-level instructional support to students under the limited supervision of a certified teacher. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with small groups, providing remedial or enrichment instruction, and assisting with the implementation of student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Support:

    Introduce new learning pre-planned with a teacher and guide independent study or remedial work for individual students and small groups.
  • Behavioral Management:

    Implement behavior plans and use crisis intervention techniques (such as Safety Care) to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Documentation:

    Maintain accurate records of student progress, lesson outcomes, and behavioral data.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with multiple regular education classroom teachers and provide learning support to students in the 6-8 general education curriculum.
  • Experience in reading intervention preferred
  • Supervision:

    Monitor students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and field trips.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    Minimum of 60 credits of approved post-secondary study.
  • Certification:

    Must hold or be eligible for a State of Maine Educational Technician II Authorization (022).
  • Safety:

    Current Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) approval/fingerprinting is required.
  • Skills:

    Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to maintain strict confidentiality of student information.

Pay for this position is based on the CEA Collective Bargaining Agreement and ranges from $20.00 to $22.25 per hour, depending on experience.
