- Provide academic leadership for Northern New England’s first PhD program in Nursing
- Guide implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the PhD program
- Ensure courses and curricula align with program outcomes, University requirements, and applicable professional and accreditation standards
- Facilitate collaboration among PhD faculty to promote cohesive, rigorous, and high-quality course design and instruction
- Coordinate required PhD immersion experiences
- Recruit prospective PhD students and support enrollment and retention activities
- Meet with prospective students and explain the program, admissions process, curriculum, and career pathways
- Develop partnerships with healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders
- Seek internal and external funding for PhD students, research, and program development
- Teach assigned graduate and undergraduate nursing courses
- Develop and deliver evidence-informed instruction across appropriate teaching modalities
- Advise and mentor doctoral students throughout their programs
- Mentor students in research development, scholarly writing, dissemination, and grant preparation
- Chair or serve on dissertation committees
- Participate in assessment of student learning and ongoing course and curriculum evaluation
- Maintain an active and sustained research agenda
- Disseminate scholarly work through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at conferences
- Collaborate on research and scholarly initiatives
- Engage doctoral students in research, grant development, publication, and scholarly dissemination
- Serve on School of Nursing and University committees
- Contribute service to the nursing profession, healthcare community, and public
- Participate in student recruitment, program events, commencement, and other School and University activities
- Support academic, research, accreditation, and strategic priorities
- Earned PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution
- Active, unrestricted registered nurse license in the State of Maine
- Record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications and professional presentations commensurate with appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor
- Demonstrated record of developing and sustaining an independent program of research following completion of the PhD
- Experience mentoring PhD students through the dissertation process, including research development, proposal preparation, study implementation, scholarly writing, and dissertation completion
- Demonstrated success pursuing or securing internal or external research funding
- Knowledge of doctoral nursing education, curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement
- Evidence of effective academic leadership and collaboration with faculty, students, healthcare organizations, and institutional partners
- Strong written, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, research, student mentorship, and academic service
- Experience leading or developing a PhD program in nursing (preferred)
- Experience chairing PhD dissertation committees (preferred)
- Record of externally funded research (preferred)
- Experience developing partnerships with healthcare organizations and institutions of higher education (preferred)
- Expertise teaching Measurement in Health and Behavioral Science, Research Methods, PhD Dissertation Seminar, or Dissertation Research (preferred)
- Successful applicant subject to appropriate background screening
Demonstrates expertise in doctoral nursing education, curriculum development, and program evaluation, with a strong focus on academic leadership, student mentorship, and securing research funding. Proven ability to engage in scholarly dissemination and maintain an active research agenda while fostering collaboration among faculty and healthcare organizations.
