In-Person Baccalaureate Adjunct Faculty in Animal Husbandry and Genetics

Day to day responsibilities

This position is responsible for facilitating engagement in 5-week baccalaureate-level courses in Animal Husbandry and Genetics with an in-depth exploration of the design, implementation, and optimization of breeding animals, principles of genetic and breeding productivity, and methods to create, maintain, and improve the genetics of populations in a variety of controlled environments. Courses are taught in-person with an average of 20 students per course.

Instructors must meet expectations for timely feedback, classroom engagement, and responsiveness to students.

Unity Environmental University at Pineland’s curriculum is in person at our Pineland Farms campus in New Gloucester, Maine.

The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree (e.g. PhD, DVM) in an animal science or related discipline or master’s degree with ample professional experience. Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Must have strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately using e-mail and digital conferencing tools. Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of Unity Environmental University.

• Experience teaching in-person at the postsecondary level.
• Experience using Canvas or other Learning Management System to facilitate learning.
