Sumner Memorial High School is seeking a collaborative, hands‑on, and student‑centered Carpentry Instructor to lead our HCTC Carpentry program. This position is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students, collaborating with educators and industry professionals, and helping young people develop the technical and employability skills they need for success after high school.

The ideal candidate will bring strong carpentry knowledge and experience, a willingness to collaborate, and a commitment to creating meaningful, real‑world learning experiences for students.

• Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the HCTC Carpentry program and provide engaging, hands‑on instruction.
• Build positive relationships with students while establishing a safe, productive, and supportive learning environment.
• Collaborate closely with school administration, teachers, counselors, HCTC staff, and industry partners.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with local contractors, businesses, and industry professionals to provide students with authentic career experiences, guidance, materials, and opportunities.
• Teach a rigorous and relevant, standards‑based carpentry curriculum, including alignment with NCCER and other industry expectations.
• Align instruction, assessments, and student experiences with post‑secondary programs and current industry practices.
• Develop projects and activities that strengthen students' problem‑solving, communication, collaboration, employability, and life skills.
• Differentiate instruction based on student needs and use student data to support academic and technical growth.
• Provide opportunities for students to participate in site visits, job shadows, tours, guest speaker events, industry seminars, and other career‑connected experiences.
• Support students in developing career plans, portfolios, resumes, and employability skills.
• Administer required technical assessments and complete employability profiles.
• Contribute to curriculum development and ongoing program approval requirements.
• Help grow and strengthen the HCTC Carpentry program through community and industry partnerships.
• Provide students with the supplementary materials, resources, and support needed to succeed.
