Job Description
As a Boiler Operator at Irving Forest Products, you will play a crucial role in our sawmill operations. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and control the performance of our biomass boilers and turbine generator, ensuring optimal efficiency and safety. This role is perfect for an individual with a strong background in boiler operations and a passion for maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

- Monitor and control the operation of 3 biomass boilers and a turbine generator, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
- Perform operational troubleshooting and minor repairs on all boiler-related equipment as needed.
- Implement preventive maintenance procedures to minimize equipment downtime.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to identify and address any issues or improvements related to boiler operations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of boiler operations and maintenance activities.
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced team members on boiler operations and safety protocols.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance boiler efficiency and overall plant performance.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in boiler technology.
- Support other departments as required, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Education:
Trade Certification or High School Diploma. - License:
Minimum Maine HP Boiler Operator License;
Preferred Maine 4th Class Boiler Operator License or higher. - Experience:
2-5 years of relevant work experience in boiler operations. - Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Strong knowledge of boiler systems, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make quick decisions.
- Good physical condition, able to lift and carry equipment as needed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
