A Day in the Life
Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) delivers innovative electrophysiology technologies designed to transform cardiac mapping and ablation procedures. Within CAS, Affera systems represent a next-generation platform enabling safer, faster, and more predictable treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
The Field Service Engineer - Affera Systems is the primary technical liaison for Medtronic customers using Affera mapping and ablation systems across the Nordic region, with Stockholm as the main base of operations. The role is fully responsible for the technical assessment, installation, servicing, maintenance, and ongoing support of Affera systems in clinical environments. This role is designed for a highly autonomous Field Service Engineer who is comfortable working independently across multiple countries and supporting advanced technology in high-acuity clinical settings.
As Affera systems continue to expand across the Nordic region, this position plays a key role in ensuring system reliability, customer confidence, and successful clinical adoption. The role operates with a high degree of trust and independence, where planning, prioritization, and execution are largely driven by the Technical Service Specialist in close alignment with customers and internal stakeholders. This position requires extensive travel (approximately 75% of the time) due to responsibility for systems located throughout Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland.
In addition, the role may occasionally provide short-term support to other Western European markets, in coordination with regional service teams.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
* Perform technical assessments, installations, preventive and corrective maintenance of Affera systems
* Act as the primary technical liaison and subject matter expert for customers within the assigned region
* Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues in clinical environments
* Take end-to-end ownership of assigned systems to ensure uptime, performance, and customer confidence
* Maintain accurate service documentation and technical records in compliance with regulatory requirements
* Provide technical input and field feedback to internal teams, including Sales, Clinical, Quality, and Engineering
* Support continuous improvement initiatives related to service processes, documentation, and training
Required Knowledge and
Experience:
* Technical education (e.g. Biomedical Engineering) or equivalent technical background
* Experience in field service, engineering, or technical support within medical devices or other regulated industries
* Strong ability to troubleshoot and technically diagnose advanced medical equipment
* Proven capability to work independently in a remote, field-based role with regional responsibility
* Flexibility to travel extensively as required by the role
* Strong communication skills and professional working proficiency in English
Experience in electrophysiology and/or cath lab environments is desirable.
