Job Description

The Construction Engineering Technology program combines construction, engineering and management in a practice-oriented education that leads students to rewarding careers in building construction and infrastructure nationwide.

The successful applicant will develop and teach courses at all levels of the curriculum and will be open to using teaching styles that reach students who otherwise might not choose engineering. Engineering technology faculty members clearly communicate with students the connections between principles and professional practice. The selected faculty member is expected to engage in scholarship, professional service and/or consulting; service to the discipline and the community, as well as professional society activities;

ETAC/ABET accreditation efforts; recruitment; student advising; and University committees. The department encourages faculty members to pursue professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • A Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering or a closely related discipline by date of hire.
  • Post-graduation employment for at least three years as a full-time, permanent hire construction or engineering professional with experience in several of the following areas: construction safety, surveying, computerized graphics (CAD, BIM), cost estimating, scheduling, and/or construction management in building, heavy civil, road or industrial construction.
  • A construction or engineering B.S. or higher degree from a U.S. or Canadian institution, or at least three years of full-time permanent hire construction experience in the U.S. or Canada.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Have performed effectively in collaborative team environments.
Preferred:
  • Prior successful teaching experience in engineering or construction practices.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
