Overview
WSP, an award-winning and innovative multi-disciplinary consulting firm, is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join the structural engineering practice within our Architectural Engineering (A/E) business based in Portland, Maine. The team is open to candidates based in any of our Maine offices, with one weekly visit to Portland.

The Portland A/E Team provides technical solutions for challenging projects with a focus on sustainable, resilient, and energy-efficient solutions in the industrial, municipal, federal, and commercial sectors.
Your Impact- Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and support project execution.
- Contribute to structural engineering and design activities from concept through construction documentation for multi-disciplinary projects.
- Perform analysis of new and existing structures in accordance with applicable codes.
- Develop calculations and support preparation of technical documentation.
- Participate in existing structure assessments and assist in preparing evaluation reports and recommendations.
- Develop structural models to support engineering analysis and design.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality work.
- Support junior staff through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Follow project delivery standards and perform quality checks on work.
- Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
- US Citizen.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis software such as STAAD PRO, ETABS, or RISA, with willingness to learn additional tools.
- Experience supporting projects through various phases of design and construction.
- Experience contributing to construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to communicate engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or REVIT.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) in the U.S.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with Federal Agency or DoD projects.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $102,200- $151,800
