Job Functions:
NTP-LV is seeking applicants for the position of Safety Engineer. Potential candidates must have a positive recommendation from their Supervisor, Department Manager, and General Manager (if applicable) as well as the following basic qualifications:
Cultivate a culture of safety awareness & housekeeping stewardship Provide support/resources to operations, maintenance and engineering for the implementation of safety and ergonomic improvements. Understand, implement and communicate federal, state and local OSHA regulations. Develop, organize and deliver safety training Review, develop and implement safety policies and procedures. Maintain safety (OSHA 300 logs) and environmental records Interaction with regulatory agencies Ability to travel to other Nucor locations Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor;
therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with federal/state safety regulations and laws At least two years of experience working in an industrial environment applying safety policies and development of safety and loss prevention programs Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or environmental engineering Experience working with federal/state safety regulations and laws At least two years of experience working in an industrial environment applying safety policies and development of safety and loss prevention programs
Experience with safety management systems and / or OSHA VPP Knowledge of Safety, Quality or Environmental Management Systems. Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, IBIH and other regulatory standards, protocols and compliance in order to create policies and procedures. Current First Aid/CPR Certification
