Overview
The School of Engineering Technology at the University of Maine invites applications for the academic year lecturer in Surveying Engineering Technology.
The Surveying Engineering Technology program offers innovative in-person and online education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The program serves approximately 400 students, including B.S. undergraduates, undergraduate certificate students, M.S. in Engineering Technology, Professional Science Masters students, graduate certificate students, and Eng.
D. (Doctor of Engineering) students.
The successful applicant will develop and teach online and in-person courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, using teaching styles that reach a wide variety of remote students. Faculty members clearly communicate connections between principles and professional practice.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in surveying engineering technology.
- Use remote instruction methods to engage diverse student populations.
- Engage in scholarship, professional service, and/or consulting activities.
- Participate in service to the discipline and community, professional society activities, ETAC/ABET accreditation efforts, recruitment, student advising, and university committees.
- Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and scholarship.
- Licensed as a land surveyor in the United States.
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in surveying engineering technology or closely related discipline.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working effectively in remote and in-person collaborative team environments.
- Masters or Doctoral degree in a surveying engineering technology related discipline.
- Prior successful teaching experience in surveying or engineering practices.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
