POSITIONOVERVIEW
The Director, Engineering, Asset Management & AMI leads strategic planning, business planning and execution for Versant Power's engineering, asset management and AMI. This position shares responsibility with all Versant leaders for the health and safety of Versant Power employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Leads Transmission & Distribution strategic and operational activities.
- Oversees the development and implementation of a T&D Asset Management Program with long‑term life cycle asset optimization and risk management.
- Leads the development of long‑term integrated system planning for the T&D System, which enables Distributed Energy Resource interconnection.
- Oversees the development and execution of the technical study and planning requirements to support the Distributed Generation Program for the business.
- Oversees the AMI Operations group, supporting the AMI project rollout and future day‑to‑day operations, data analytics and business support.
- Responsible to ensure input from Versant Powers technical teams for the development of strategic and transformational technology solutions related to the Technology Roadmap.
- Support the development of business plans and justifications for applicable technology projects, in collaboration the project owners.
- Oversees applicable company capital, operations, and maintenance budgets ensuring alignment with business strategy.
- Oversees the management of the Capital Investment Plan and capital controls.
- Ensures engineering and operations activities are completed in regulatory compliance with FERC, NERC, NPCC, ISO‑NE, and MPUC.
- Oversees management of Versant Power’s substation construction and maintenance programs.
- Oversees the T&D System Operations group on a 24 X 7 basis, to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the power system: bulk electric transmission, local transmission and distribution.
- Responsible for leadership development and succession planning within Engineering, Asset Management to ensure Versant Power has the leadership capacity it needs in the future to achieve its operational and growth objectives.
- Supports identification of company needs for capital investments, expansions, and improvement projects.
- Provides technical support to the Regulatory team to advance strategic initiatives, dockets and rulings resulting from the MPUC and legislative process.
- Supports the System Emergency Operations Plan (SEOP).
- Works in accordance with the documented environmental procedures, instructions, and specific responsibilities as defined in individual procedures and instructions. Reports problems or deviations associated with environmental issues and the Environmental Management System (EMS) to the Environmental Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including designated duties associated with system restoration.
- BS or BSET in electrical engineering or related degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer or advanced engineering degree preferred.
- Minimum ten years, senior leadership and management experience required in a utility environment, with emphasis majority of items listed in the Essential Functions section.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and long‑term workforce development.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal and consultative skills.
- Strong operational safety background.
- Position requires a valid Maine driver’s license and the ability to travel to Canada.
- Excellent leadership, technical, and communication skills required, with the capacity for and interest in mentoring employees in related aspects of Versant Power’s business.
