JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, serves as an entry level engineer performing introductory engineering assignments. Provides engineering assistance developing project plans, designs, or traffic engineering studies and other related documents, field experience with traffic signals and ITS hardware, cost estimates and other engineering technical reports for transportation projects.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:Under general supervision, performs entry level engineering analysis, design, plan, review and inspection for work of moderate difficulty. Trainee participates in a formal training program to become proficient in the operational and organizational functions and structure of the Department. Job requires application of professional engineering concepts, principles, practices and methods sufficient to perform a broad range of engineering activities in a variety of work environments.
