Overview
Summit Utilities, Inc. is a growing natural gas utility serving homes and businesses in Arkansas, Colorado, Maine, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. Summit focuses on safety, reliability, innovation, and community service.
PositionRegulatory and Rates Analyst (SGL 16) – hybrid capacity from an office in Arkansas, Maine, or Oklahoma, or remote from Texas.
Responsibilities- Develop and prepare revenue requirements, cost of service studies, and other rate and regulatory filings to support Summit Utilities, Inc. strategies and objectives.
- Review analyses and participate in formulation of law, rules, and policy at state and federal levels with management and senior team members.
- Support the implementation of rate changes and manage existing rates and tariffs.
- Plan and prepare required regulatory reports, annual compliance filings, data responses, ordered compliance filings, and similar non-rate-case filings.
- Assist team members in assembling, analyzing, and reviewing rate change proposals related to purchased gas adjustment and demand cost filings.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable requirements concerning rates, gas costs, and tariff matters.
- Prepare regulatory filings including testimony, schedules, work papers, requests for information, and briefs in a timely manner.
- Gather and analyze financial information and operating statistics to inform regulatory strategies.
- Support the preparation of major rate and regulatory projects and monitor developments with senior team members for communication to senior management.
- Collaborate with industry associations to coordinate responses to key rate and regulatory issues.
- Establish and maintain communications with internal departments; research current issues or trends affecting the regulatory environment.
- Attend workshops and conferences to monitor regulatory proceedings and identify trends, issues, or decisions affecting the company s regulatory objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Three (3) years of experience in rate or regulatory matters preferred
- Minimum one (1) year experience with financial systems
- Previous experience in the natural gas industry or regulated utility desirable
- Excellent Excel skills required; professional writing abilities required
- Solid background and knowledge of financial systems; SAP or Oracle experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; excellent Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze data and historical trends
- Business and financial understanding; ability to collaborate and work with limited supervision
- Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure in a dynamic environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to internal and external audiences
- Ability to gain a fundamental understanding of natural gas utility business operations
- Ability to clearly articulate complex information to various constituencies
