Position Details

The Town of Bridgton is accepting applications for a Full-Time Police Officer. We are seeking a highly motivated, community-oriented individual who enjoys working in a team-focused environment and is committed to professional, service-oriented policing.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Be at least 21 years of age (or 20 years of age with 60 college credits)
  • Possess a valid Maine driver’s license at time of hire
  • Be able to perform the essential functions of a Law Enforcement Officer

Applicants who are not currently full-time certified must:

  • Have successfully passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) ALERT Test
  • Have passed the MCJA Physical Agility Test within the past year
  • Have completed, or be eligible to complete, certification through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)

An Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, or a combination of relevant training and experience, is preferred. Preference may be given to graduates of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program (BLETP).

About Bridgton & the Police Department

Bridgton is located in southwestern Maine and serves as the hub of the surrounding communities. The area offers a vibrant downtown, specialty shops, restaurants, hospital, movie theater, professional offices, numerous lakes and beaches, boating opportunities, an outstanding 18-hole golf course, and a popular ski resort.

The Bridgton Police Department provides 24-hour coverage, seven days a week, and is actively engaged in the community. We are a small, energetic, community-oriented department focused on professionalism, teamwork, and service.

Position Details
  • Full-time position – 40 hours per week
  • Officers work four (4) ten-hour shifts, with three (3) days off per week
Salary
  • Starting Pay: $30.00 per hour
  • Top Patrol Officer Pay: $37.62 per hour for officers with 10+ years of full-time law enforcement experience.

Previous full-time law enforcement experience may be considered for placement on both the pay scale and vacation accrual scale, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
