Salary: $21.54 – $30.14 per hour

• Determine complex eligibility for multiple state programs in a single decision, performing intermediate mathematical calculations as needed.
• Use multiple technology systems to enter, review, and verify eligibility‑related data and documentation.
• Clearly explain program rules, requirements, and decisions to applicants and recipients—in writing, over the phone, and in person.
• Review and process information received electronically or by mail to ensure completeness and compliance.
• Connect individuals with additional programs and services that support their health and well‑being.
• Engage in outreach to provide program information, accept applications, and determine eligibility.
• Gather evidence, develop reports, and represent the Department at administrative hearings.
• Communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and help them navigate complex systems during critical moments.

• Four (4) years of education, training, and/or progressively responsible experience in a social services setting that demonstrates interviewing and data‑gathering skills necessary for eligibility determinations, claims resolutions, or customer service, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Business Administration, or a related field.

  The State pays 85%–100% of employee‑only premiums (annual value $12,845.82–$15,112.76), with additional premium credit options available.

  State contribution of 14.11% of pay to the Maine Public Employees Retirement System.
• Paid parental leave:
  Six weeks of fully paid leave for all employees welcoming a child, including non‑birthing and adoptive parents; additional unpaid leave may be available under FMLA.
• Additional wellness benefits are available through the Office of Employee Health and Wellness.
