Fire/EMS Support Specialist

The Town of Orono is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional to serve as a Fire/EMS Support Specialist within the Orono Fire Department. This position provides critical administrative and operational support to Fire Department leadership and plays an essential role in advancing the Department's mission of delivering responsive, accountable, and community-focused fire and emergency services.

Position Summary

The Fire/EMS Support Specialist provides comprehensive support to ensure the efficient coordination of financial processes, data management, compliance documentation, and departmental programs. This role serves as a key internal resource, supporting accounts payable and receivable functions, grant development, performance reporting, and records management in alignment with Town policies and applicable regulatory requirements. Working closely with Fire Department command staff and other Town departments, the Specialist also supports community risk reduction initiatives, public outreach efforts, and departmental projects that advance strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and operational support to Fire Department leadership
• Coordinate accounts payable and receivable processes in accordance with Town policies
• Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Assist with grant research, application development, and reporting requirements
• Support data collection and performance reporting efforts
• Manage records and information systems to ensure organization and accessibility
• Collaborate with internal departments to support financial and operational initiatives
• Assist in coordinating community risk reduction programs and public outreach activities
• Facilitate clear and professional communication both internally and externally

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $20.95 - $28.76, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Town provides a competitive benefit package including health insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, and participation in the Maine Public Employees Retirement System.
