Minimum Qualifications:
Advanced education, training, and/or experience in environmental science or a related scientific field and demonstrated experience directing, assigning, and appraising work for project teams, analyzing and processing permits, applications, licenses, and technical information, and drafting policies, rules, regulations, and/or complex technical documents in a scientific and/or legal field. Experience as a team lead with caseload oversight is required.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate the following:
- Familiarity with the Commission's Land Use Districts and Standards and knowledge of state and federal agency regulations that intersect them
- Ability to analyze complex submittals and on-the-ground situations to assess compliance with the Commission's standards
- Experience working constructively with the public, explaining rules, resolving enforcement matters, using de-escalation tactics, and defusing tense situations
- Understanding of best management practices for construction and environmental protection
- Experience in creating and implementing ordinances, regulations, and legislation
- Experience in creating and implementing training and resource tools
- Analytical, detail-oriented thinker with strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience in personnel management, inter-agency coordination, and the creation and maintenance of effective working relationships.
