Pharmacy Operations Manager – Walgreens

Core Responsibilities- Accountable for performing day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities; ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full‑time certified pharmacy technician.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers in accordance with company policies, laws, regulations, and ethics.
- Select, schedule, and develop pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management, including discipline and termination decisions.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance, resolving complaints, and answering non‑clinical questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Model and share customer service best practices.
- Build strong customer relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
- Assist pharmacist in delivery of patient care: patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification where allowed; complete patient and physician calls; assist in administering vaccines, health screenings, etc.
- Delegate, direct, and assign non‑clinical work, ensuring tasks are completed on time; hold others accountable for efficient workflow.
- Prepare and file reports and records required by company and government agencies.
- Coordinate and organize pharmacy daily schedule of activities; recommend allocation of pharmacy hours; ensure pharmacy is clean, neat, stocked with supplies.
- Ensure compliance with business administrative activities, inventory management, and annual inventory preparation.
- Perform non‑clinical patient calls completion.
- Drive new technology/process roll‑out, champion change, engage team around action planning; ensure maintenance of pharmacy equipment.
- Maintain compliance with Good Faith Dispensing policy; adhere to Company policies concerning pharmacy errors and continuous quality improvement program.
- Process insurance claims accurately; follow up with insurers and providers; conduct or participate in third‑party audits.
- Analyze and improve pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service.
- Manage Community Outreach Portal, coordinate off‑site immunization clinics, build retail partnerships.
- Lead performance management of technicians including discipline and termination decisions, following constructive discipline policy and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
- Hold technicians accountable for attendance, timeliness, and training completion; monitor and support professional development.
- Identify gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge among team members and support training through hands‑on instruction or learning modules.
- Assist Pharmacy Manager in monitoring licensures, registrations, and certifications of pharmacy personnel.
- Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by Company policy and laws.
- Maintain PTCB certification through designated training programs and/or state‑required certification/registration.
- Enhance knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
- Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training such as LTMP e‑modules as required by the Company. Follow performance improvement plans.
- Pursue professional development through performance monitoring, feedback solicitation, and mentorship.
- Relate messages to the pharmacy team from support centers or key emails.
- Participate in store/pharmacy meetings, including 5‑minute briefings and weekly check‑ins with the Store Manager.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in certain locations).
- Previous people management or leadership experience.
- Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.

Salary RangeThe current salary range for this position is $22.50 per hour - $31.00 per hour. The actual hourly salary within this range that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills, education, experience, and other relevant factors.
