Medical Assistant I – Maine Health Pen Bay HospitalMaine Health Pen Bay Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant I to join our Pediatric Care practice. Position SummaryThe Medical Assistant I performs duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based setting while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant I functions under the license of the physician or advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Room patients and obtain vital signs, histories, and documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during patient visits.
- Administer vaccines and clinical treatments as directed.
- Coordinate patient flow to support efficient clinic operations.
- Provide patient and family education and instructions as appropriate.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, phone support, and general office duties.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
- Full-time, 36 hours per week.
- Typically 3 days per week, approximately 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM.
- Most Medical Assistants work one late evening shift until 7:00 PM.
- Day shift position (Thursday likely off; final schedule determined at hire).
- Supportive, team-oriented pediatric practice.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)- Education:
High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following:
• Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed;
• Completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting;
• 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis). - License/
Certifications:
Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Fully remote care team members are exempt from BLS certification requirement. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire. - Experience:
