RSU 3 is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our special education team serving students at Mount View Elementary School, Monroe Elementary School, and Troy Central School. This is an exciting opportunity to support students in developing the functional, motor, sensory, and self-regulation skills necessary to access their educational programs and achieve success.
Responsibilities- Provide occupational therapy services to students under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Implement treatment plans and interventions designed to support student participation and independence within the educational environment.
- Assist students in developing fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-care, and functional life skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, educational technicians, related service providers, and families to support student success.
- Collect and maintain accurate data regarding student progress toward IEP goals.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to student programming as appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining therapy equipment and materials.
- Support students in classroom, small-group, and individual settings.
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Current Maine licensure or eligibility for licensure as required.
- Experience working with children and students with disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of special education processes and individualized educational programming.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Current CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) or ability to obtain.
