Great Salt Bay Community School is seeking a dedicated, full‑time Occupational Therapist to join our vibrant Pre‑K through 8th‑grade learning community. Compensation & Attractive Benefits
  • Salary Range: $53,543 – $88,238 annually (based on experience, degree lane, and placement on the 185-day teacher salary schedule).
  • Special Education Staff Stipend:
    Eligible for up to $6,000 annually ($125 per point system earned for evaluations, direct therapy services, and IEP meeting participation).
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage:
    District pays 99% of Single coverage, 90% of Adult/Children coverage, and 85% of Family/2-Adult coverage under MEA Benefits Trust plans.
  • Generous Paid Time Off: 15 paid sick days per year (accumulative up to 120 days).
  • 40 hours of paid employee leave per year for personal use/vacation
  • Paid professional days and bereavement days
  • Professional Development & Tuition Reimbursement: 100% tuition reimbursement for up to 9 graduate credit hours per year at University of Maine rates, with 50% course prepayment available.
Primary Purpose & Essential Functions

To enable Pre‑K to 8th‑grade children with disabilities to access their education effectively.

  • Evaluate fine motor, visual‑perceptual, functional, and sensory‑motor skills within the school setting.
  • Design and implement individualized therapy programs for students with diverse developmental, orthopedic, neurological, and sensory needs.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, specialists, and support staff.
  • Administer evaluations, prepare written reports, track trimester goal progress, and participate in IEP team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate student records documenting referrals, assessments, recommendations, and therapy notes.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active State of Maine Occupational Therapist License.
  • National Board Certification of Occupational Therapy
  • State of Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) Approval.
  • Public school or pediatric experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of sensory‑based theories, developmental tools, and pediatric intervention strategies.
