Role Description

The Assistant Manager at Evergreen Assisted Living is a full-time, on-site role based in Calais, ME. This position supports the overall daily operations of the residential home, including supervising care staff, assisting with scheduling, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include helping coordinate resident care plans, monitoring the quality of services, and maintaining clear communication with residents, families, and healthcare providers.

The Assistant Manager assists with training new team members, supports performance feedback, and helps foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture. Additional duties may involve overseeing documentation, participating in safety and quality initiatives, and stepping in to provide direct resident support as needed.

Qualifications
  • Experience in assisted living, memory care, or a related residential care setting, with a strong commitment to person-centered care.
  • Skills in team leadership, staff coordination, and basic scheduling or workflow management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution abilities for working with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of basic healthcare, safety, and regulatory practices relevant to assisted living and dementia care.
  • Organizational and documentation skills, including attention to detail in resident records and incident reporting.
  • Ability to work on-site, be physically present for resident and staff needs, and respond calmly in urgent or changing situations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary education or certifications in healthcare, social work, or administration are beneficial.
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience in a care environment is preferred, along with a willingness to participate in ongoing training.
