Just 20 minutes north of Portland, our 21-room boutique hotel provides an intimate, tranquil escape — where serene rooms, free of TVs and phones, invite guests to slow down and savor coastal living.
From weddings to weekend getaways, the Inn is a cherished retreat, blending classic New England charm with warm, personalized service.
We are seeking a friendly, attentive, and service-driven part-time Bellman to join our team. As one of the first and last points of contact for our guests, this role plays an essential part in shaping the overall guest experience. The Bellman supports guest arrivals and departures, assists with luggage, and provides helpful information to ensure a seamless and enjoyable stay.
This a part-time seasonal role starting early mid-May to early October (exact dates may vary). The candidate will need to have reliable transportation to and from Chebeague Island Inn or find housing on the Island.
Key Responsibilities- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist with luggage to and from guest rooms
- Provide a welcoming first impression and orient guests to the Inn and its amenities
- Assist with guest departures, including luggage handling and coordination of transportation
- Escort guests to rooms and provide basic information about the property and island
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of entryways, lobby, and luggage storage areas
- Support front desk and housekeeping teams as needed to ensure smooth operations
- Deliver items to guest rooms such as amenities, messages, or special requests
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations about the Inn, island, and local offerings
- Ensure guest requests are handled promptly and professionally
- Uphold safety standards and handle guest belongings with care
- Previous hospitality or guest service experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly, professional, and guest-focused demeanor
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to assist in various areas as needed
- Ability to lift and carry luggage up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, and be active for extended periods
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
