Deer Isle–Stonington Elementary School & High School are seeking a reliable, motivated Custodian to join our school community and help keep both our Elementary School and High School running smoothly. This full‑time position has primarily evening shifts with flexibility for some day shifts. Shift work will flex between both school buildings, providing variety and a chance to be an essential part of two vibrant learning environments.

• Be a valued member of the school staff, supporting students and educators every day

• Work independently while also collaborating with a supportive maintenance and school team

• Sweep, mop, and clean classrooms, hallways, stairwells, offices, restrooms, and common areas
• Clean and reset the cafeteria and gymnasium after events, banquets, and school functions
• Maintain building security by checking locks and doors daily
• Monitor cleanliness and safety of assigned areas and report hazards promptly
• Assist with groundskeeping, including snow shoveling and salting walkways during inclement weather
• Monitor plumbing and heating systems
• Monitor inventory of custodial supplies and submit supply requests
• Work with the Head of Maintenance to develop cleaning and maintenance schedules
• Participate as a member of the summer cleaning crew
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Maintenance or Building Principal

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required
• Ability to pass a physical examination
• Prior cleaning experience preferred
• Ability to repeatedly lift at least 30 pounds
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students and staff
• Professional, cheerful, flexible attitude
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
