Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 team members who work together to provide customers with the best possible potato product.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the set‑up, operation, and disassembly of equipment used for production by mechanical means to produce both work in process and finished goods products. The job may include the loading, unloading of materials, packaging and finished goods products from racks or pallets. This dual role involves working production needs and then transferring into sanitation as directed by the plant production supervisor.

The employee must comply with safety work rules at all times and reinforce safety as a core value.

  • Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) during production, sanitation, and handling of materials and ingredients.
  • Maintain and adjust equipment to control designated weights on an individual package or case weight basis.
  • Meet production performance requirements in a fast‑paced work environment.
  • Transfer finished products and raw materials to identified locations in the plant/warehouse or on the production line.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, including wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as prescribed for each work activity or job.
  • Perform CCP checks as needed depending on location in the plant and during manufacturing.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • Report all food safety and human safety concerns to appropriate personnel such as shift lead, shift supervisor, QA technician, Safety Manager, and FSQ Manager.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two or more years of industrial equipment or food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to apply good judgement and understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to communicate production issues, counts and weights to supervision or lead personnel.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred Education,

Experience and Skills:

  • Forklift/Pallet Jack Certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of GMP and safe food manufacturing practices a plus.
Physical Demands

Employees are regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; reach with hands and arms; stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and taste or smell. Employees may occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Required visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment includes wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to high or precarious places, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and typically loud noise levels.
