Position Summary:

The Forklift Operator safely operates forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods throughout the manufacturing facility. This position supports production operations by ensuring materials are delivered accurately, efficiently, and safely while maintaining inventory accuracy and organizational standards.

Material Handlers must become forklift certified, and a large percentage of work time will be spent operating a forklift.

Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks in accordance with company policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Transport materials, parts, and finished products between production areas, warehouses, and shipping locations.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers.
  • Supply production lines with required materials to prevent downtime.
  • Verify quantities and inspect materials for damage before moving or storing.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper material handling and documentation.
  • Scan products and complete required transactions in inventory management systems.
  • Organize and maintain storage locations using established inventory procedures.
  • Conduct daily forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories as required.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Support shipping, receiving, and production teams as needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality requirements, and operating procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to accurately work with inventory systems and tools, MS Office
  • Effective memory skills
  • Experience with warehouse and materials flow in a fast-paced, highly customized factory.
  • Experience in the management of an inbound freight department preferred.
  • Forklift trained (certification will be required)
  • Ability to follow directions & a strong willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements:
  • This job operates in a warehouse environment and at times requires being outdoors in the elements.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or complete a team lift.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts for extended periods.
