The Toolmaker II role supports manufacturing operations through the design, fabrication, maintenance, repair, and modification of tooling, fixtures, gauges, molds, and production equipment. This position is based in Dexter, Michigan and plays a critical role in ensuring manufacturing processes operate safely, efficiently, and to quality standards through precision machining, tooling support, and continuous improvement activities.
Tool Maker II is an experienced skilled trade position responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, repair, and modification of production tooling, fixtures, and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprint interpretation, and precision measurement to support safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operation.
Available shift are:- 1st Shift: 6:00am-2:00pm M-F
- 1st Shift: 7:15am-3:15pm M-F
- Manufacture, repair, modify, and maintain tools, dies, molds, fixtures, and gauges that meet production requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and specifications.
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (mills, Lathes, grinders, Welder, etc.)
- Perform precision machining to tight tolerances using various metals and materials.
- Diagnose tooling issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
- Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and other Tool Maker personnel on tooling improvements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of tooling changes and repairs.
- Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Experience:
Requires minimum of 1 year of experience
Nice to Have:- Welding experience (Mig, Tig, and Plastic Welding)
- TRAK Programming experience
- 3 years minimum experience programming CNC Machines.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
