SAFE Program Educator

Mission Statement

In collaboration with local partners and all affected by abuse, Through These Doors (TTD) creates innovative responses and mobilizes our community to promote safety and challenge systems of oppression and violence.

The SAFE Program Educator will engage in development and provision of education supporting DV survivor parents and the parent who has used DV tactics against them, as part of TTD's prevention program.

This position will be based at TTD's administrative office in Cape Elizabeth with some travel required.

Prior experience and training are an advantage, though TTD values life experiences and provides comprehensive training for all new employees to fully perform advocacy functions.

• Pilot and offer SAFE parenting education curriculum in Cumberland County; support and oversee other trainers in this effort.
• For all SAFE Program activities, incorporate the expertise and sensibilities inherent in Maine's Certified DV Intervention Programs. Activities include:
  • Developing parenting education curriculum that supports parenting skills and strategies for parents who have been abused as well as those parents who have chosen to perpetrate abuse and violence;
  • piloting and offering SAFE parenting education curriculum in Cumberland County; support and oversee other trainers in this effort;
  • engaging in collaboration with project partners to produce public report on SAFE program; and
  • assisting in developing and implementing evaluation structure for SAFE program.

• $21.54/hour
