Occupational Health Nurse, Public Health Nurse, RN Nurse
Overview
Provides direct and indirect care with emphasis on employee health. Uses established protocols and current standards of care to meet the wide variety of health care needs of the Marathon Health population. Duties include collecting and ordering lab tests, reviewing immunization and disease status, preparing and administering injections and vaccinations, phlebotomy, and wound care. Delivers excellent patient care by educating patients on disease processes, medications, and side‑effects while maintaining overall concern for patient wellbeing and safety.
Responsibilities- Collect medical histories, prepare patients for examinations, and record vital signs accurately.
- Relay urgent requests and emergencies to the provider as appropriate.
- Collect, review, and update immunization status of new hires and maintain compliance with employee health requirements.
- Coordinate ordering of lab tests and immunizations, and perform point‑of‑care diagnostic tests (rapid strep, urine dipsticks, etc.).
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens with proper documentation.
- Prepare medications and vaccinations for intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections.
- Transmit prescription refills as directed by a physician or other licensed provider.
- Assist the provider during examinations and carry out orders concerning patient care competently and safely.
- Follow up on abnormal tuberculosis testing and file required state claims.
- Assist with triage and monitoring of employees with contagious illnesses, work injuries, or blood borne pathogen exposures.
- Enter accurate data into contact‑tracing and medical‑tracking systems.
- Assist with N95/KN95 mask fit testing, tracking, and employee health documentation.
- Assist with absence management for non‑work‑related conditions such as short‑term disability, long‑term disability, and FMLA.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies, perform sterilization, and keep rooms stocked and organized.
- Partner with providers, clients, and other departments to support immunization clinics, wellness programs, safety days, and health fairs.
- Perform general office administration: welcome patients, answer phones, schedule appointments, handle confidential files, and maintain a professional environment.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and overall patient safety.
- Associate’s degree in nursing (Bachelor’s preferred) with 3+ years of healthcare experience including phlebotomy, point‑of‑care testing, and wound care.
- Current Registered Nurse certification and active license.
- Phlebotomy certification; CPR/BLS required.
- Emirational health certification preferred; prior occupational health experience strongly preferred.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required.
- Experience handling general office procedures and confidential files.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, basic lab interpretation, and nursing policies.
- Demonstrated process‑improvement skills and technical expertise with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365.
- Outstanding customer service, patient care, and commitment to patient wellbeing.
- Effective liaison between patients and providers with strong confidentiality (HIPAA) understanding.
- Excellent written and oral communication, teamwork, and relationship‑building skills.
- Strong time‑management, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, critical thinking, and creative problem‑solving.
Pay Range: $72,000 - $94,000/yr (actual offer may vary based on location and experience).
