CNA‑Med Tech

Job Summary

As part of a strong clinical team, the primary responsibility of our Med Tech is to administer medications to each resident, ensuring they receive the necessary care and services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being through comprehensive assessment and individualized care plans. The CNA‑Med Tech works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse and reports observations and medication documentation to the licensed nurse on duty.

The role includes maintaining clean and orderly medication equipment and assisting the Charge Nurse with medication management.

Responsibilities And Duties Include But Not Limited To
  • Administers routinely scheduled oral and topical medications according to physician orders, using scanning per policy, to assigned residents.
  • Monitors and records vital signs according to physician orders and standards of practice.
  • Reports any unusual or unwanted medication side effects to the Charge Nurse.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all medications and treatments based on policy and best practices.
  • Assists the Charge Nurse with returning, re‑ordering, and destroying medications per facility policy.
  • Notifies the Charge Nurse of any outdated medications and any projected shortage of medications or supplies.
  • Makes suggestions to resolve problems or streamline the medication system to the Charge Nurse.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Must be able to interact with our computer‑based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Must be a graduate of a state‑approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and be registered on the Maine CNA Registry.
  • Successful completion of a state‑approved Nursing Assistant‑Medication training program.
