American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week travel contract in Maine, requiring an active ME or Compact RN license and at least 1 year of ED experience.
Details- Emergency Department (ED) setting in a hospital environment
- Day shift: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- 13-week contract assignment
- Patients across all age groups requiring emergency nursing care
- Active Maine or Compact RN license, currently in hand
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of ED nursing experience required
- Current, unexpired BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Required immunizations:
Varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses, titer, or signed declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, and PPD 2-step or titer within the past 12 months - Flu shot required during flu season
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, reaching, and pushing patients in wheelchairs and stretchers
- Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to assess patients
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills
- Performs age-appropriate initial and ongoing nursing assessments across all patient populations
- Develops and implements individualized plans of care based on patient needs and physician orders
- Administers and evaluates patient response to medications using med verify system
- Conducts patient and family education and ensures understanding of discharge plans, including follow-up calls post-discharge
- Participates in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and bedside rounding with hospitalists and case managers
- Actively contributes to hospital-wide Quality Improvement initiatives and department-specific projects
- Expected to participate in emergency/disaster preparedness planning and response within the scope of professional ability
- Onboarding process begins with reporting to Human Resources on day 1
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, toxic cleaning chemicals, and fumes
