American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, an active ME or compact RN license, and ACLS certification.
Requirements- Active RN license (ME or compact) currently in hand; pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS (AHA preferred; non-AHA accepted but AHA must be obtained before start date)
- PALS preferred but not required
- Proficiency in IV skills and telemetry monitoring
- Driver s License required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Hospital-based Med/Surg unit with 45 beds
- Patient population includes medical-surgical, orthopedic, general surgery, and urology cases; top diagnoses include CHF, COPD, and pneumonia
- Pediatric patients may be admitted to the general floor; travelers with PALS may be assigned to care for pediatric patients, but PALS is not mandatory for this role
- Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required; up to a 25-mile float between facilities may be required
- Equipment used includes Plum pumps, Pyxis, Ascom phones, bladder scanner, EKG machine, and Philips Cardiac Monitor
- Epic EMR
- Provide nursing care to a diverse medical-surgical population including orthopedic, general surgery, and urology patients
- Telemetry monitoring and accurate documentation are core daily responsibilities
- Scrubs must be solid color (no prints), clean, and in good repair; hoodies, Crocs, and open-toed or perforated shoes are not permitted
- Personal device use (Air Pods, laptops, cell phones) is not permitted on the unit
- Candidates residing within 90 miles of any Maine Health facility (Maine or New Hampshire residents) are considered local and subject to a different pay rate; local travelers are not eligible for contract renewals or extensions
- Candidates who have worked at any Maine Health facility within the past 12 months should disclose this
- RTO should be kept to a minimum; approximately 3–4 days per 13-week contract is considered reasonable, subject to manager discretion
