This is a Registered Nurse 2 vacancy open to candidates with greater than 1 year of RN work experience.
For a limited time Maine Health is offering a $10,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible Registered Nurses with 0‑2 years of RN experience and $20,000 for those with greater than 2 years of RN experience.
* Eligible candidates are hired into a full or part‑time RN position. Bonus amount is prorated for part‑time hires; per diem hires are ineligible.
* Current Maine Health member employees are ineligible; former members are ineligible until more than 6 months have passed since separation.
Position SummaryThis is a full‑time, 36‑hour/week night‑shift position with every other weekend and holiday rotation.
Unit OverviewThe Emergency Department is a fast‑paced, dynamic unit designated as a Level II Emergency Department and an Acute Care Facility Primary Stroke Center, providing comprehensive emergency care 24 hours a day. Nurses care for both adult and pediatric patients with a wide range of needs, including behavioral health concerns, acute and chronic illnesses, as well as critically ill and traumatically injured individuals.
CoreResponsibilities
The Registered Nurse – Acute Care role provides high‑quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Responsibilities include collaborating, delegating, and communicating with members of the health‑care team to ensure optimal care.
QualificationsMC RN II:
This level is competent in their clinical role and has demonstrated the ability to care for most patients assigned. They are not yet able to care for every patient type within their area of hire but know how to obtain the appropriate resources to develop required skills and knowledge over time. Automatic advancement after 1 year as an RN I is included when in good standing and all requirements are met.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
Current state license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of start date. Other certifications may be required in accordance with department guidelines.
One year of recent RN experience required. Automatic advancement from RN I level if all onboarding requirements are complete, including the New Grad Residency (where available).
