Position: Temporary Dairy Farm Assistant at Wolfe's Neck Center Freeport, ME
Location: Freeport

Job Description

Wolfe's Neck Center for Agriculture & the Environment is hiring a reliable, hardworking individual for evening milking and/or chore shifts, five days a week. This is a temporary position with immediate openings and potential for longer-term opportunities for the right candidate.

About the Role The Temporary Dairy Farm Assistant will support daily operations during evening shifts, either focused on milking or general chores. Tasks include bringing cows in from pasture, prepping and milking cows in the parlor, and ensuring hygiene and equipment sanitation. Chore duties include feeding and monitoring calves, transporting warm milk, maintaining clean feeding equipment, and observing animal behavior and health.

Hands‑on daily training is provided to start, and all shifts include on‑call managerial support.

Schedule & Support

  • Evening shifts, five days per week
  • A minimum three-month commitment is preferred
  • Two weeks of hands‑on training before independent work
  • Ongoing support from on‑site or on‑call managers during every shift

Who You Are You are consistent, dependable, and communicative‑someone who sticks to a regular schedule and gives advance notice for any needed adjustments. While prior experience with animals, especially livestock, is a plus, it's not required—we're happy to train the right person.
