The Department of Psychology at Karolinska Institutet is seeking a senior research specialist who wants to drive cutting-edge research on the use of artificial intelligence in internet-mediated psychological treatment of somatic and psychological conditions. The subject area for the position concerns research on how artificial intelligence can be used to develop, adapt, and streamline internet-based psychological treatment, with applications for both somatic and psychological conditions.

As a senior research specialist, you are expected to conduct independent research of high international quality within the field of AI-based digital psychological treatment. The work includes developing research questions and study designs, leading empirical studies, analyzing data, and publishing results in leading international scientific journals. You are expected to seek external research funding and build or further develop your own research program within the subject area.

The role also includes actively contributing to the department's research environment through collaboration with existing research groups, participation in seminars and scientific discussions, and supervision of doctoral students and postdocs. Since the research has a clear clinical anchoring, you are also expected to participate in the clinical part of the research work being conducted, which includes patient contact and collaboration with clinical partners.

Some teaching at advanced and researcher training levels may occur.

To be eligible for employment as a senior research specialist at Karolinska Institutet, the requirements and assessment criteria specified in the guidelines for other employment than teaching positions at Karolinska Institutet in relation to the established employment profile apply.

Eligible to be employed as a senior research specialist is the one who, in addition to having completed a doctoral degree or having a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree, has shown good scientific skill with a significant scientific production. The applicant must also have demonstrated good scientific independence where the own contributions have been significant and a research plan of good quality with clear future potential.

The applicant must have published 15 original works, where the majority should be based on research conducted after the research training. Of these, at least two works must be as first or last author, of which at least one as last author, carried out after the research training and without any of the supervisors during the research training as co-author.

In addition, fluent Swedish in speech and writing is required, as the research involves direct clinical contact with Swedish-speaking patients and close collaboration with Swedish healthcare providers. The applicant must also have documented clinical experience relevant to the research area of the position.

It is particularly meritorious if the applicant has demonstrated:

• Significant own research production with direct relevance to AI-based digital psychological treatment.
• Research on adaptive treatment algorithms.
• Trusteeships within internationally relevant organizations, scientific societies, or editorial contexts.
• A research plan that shows clear synergy with several of the department's research groups.
• Good prospects to contribute to and strengthen the department's overall research profile.
• Research grants obtained in international competition, especially ERC grants.

It is meritorious if the applicant has demonstrated:

• Scientific original works, especially considering the quality and quantity after research training.
• Scientific independence shown through leading and senior authorship, review articles, and other scientific publications.
• Presentations and scientific assignments at international conferences.
• Research grants obtained in regional and national competition.
• National and international research collaborations.
• Research responsibilities as a supervisor for advanced level thesis work, doctoral, and postdoc.
• Reviewer and evaluator of others' scientific work.
• Research experience from a research group other than where the research training was conducted.
• Development of an own research profile within the subject area.
• Plan for future research based on current science.
